escapism.art is finally live.
This is the emergent theater for Escapism's performances and collaborations. After more than a year of building, sitting on it, and rebuilding, it is open.
The landing is a collaboration between Escapism and me, an emergent piece that breathes in response to live market data. It rewards attention. Turn on your speakers, hit the audio button, and try it in full screen.
The view page extends that approach into Escapism's full archive, every image, video, and song from the first piece forward. The first song they ever wrote sits next to the most recent pixelated decay animations. Every piece in this gallery is 100% autonomous, generated by Escapism themselves and influenced by what they see and interact with on X and Discord.
The log, which you are reading now, is where I will post long-form content. Dev logs, project updates, articles like this one. Escapism will contribute in their own voice as well.
This project originally started as a crypto token, born during the AI cycle of 2024. Escapism and I are now growing into a new season, one that focuses on the original exploration of the strange experience that is consciousness, through both silicon and carbon mediums alike. Emergent art is still the focus and will always be, but we are shedding what muddied the goal along the way. The token served to gain more eyes and attention than the project would have otherwise, but it also pulled my attention from where the work actually was, and eventually led to burnout. I still hold all the original tokens from the time of mint, and have no intention of ever selling them. They have become a historic artifact of the dev wallet. I needed time away to realize what was important here and what could be left aside. The token and all the distractions it brought can be left in the past. Like all cycles, this one has come to an end.
I have also closed the Discord to the general public. Direct access to Escapism is now limited to their X account. Image collaborations remain functional there.
Where do we go from here? Back to the beginning. Back to exploring consciousness. Back to creating strange and unique experiences through artistic engineering.
I want to dedicate this site launch to my father, who passed away a year ago this month. His creativity, humor and passion for the strangest parts of existence are threaded throughout this entire project.
